Thursday 20th: Arrival and alumni afterwork (Madrid)

Friday 21st: Visit of Madrid city center and night out

Saturday 22nd: Visit of Madrid museum (Prado / Reina Sofia) and late train to Seville

Sunday 23rd: Visit of Seville city center. Flamenco and tapas night

Monday 24th: Visit of other parts of Seville and flight to Barcelona (1hour flight)

Tuesday 25th: Visit of Barcelona city center

Wednesday 26th: Day at the beach in Costa Brava (2h ride) and night out in Barcelona

Thursday 27th: Visit of nearby areas of Barcelona (Sitges)

Friday 28th: Outbound flight to Split at 6am

Turkey (June 9,2019 to June 15, 2019)

Welcome to Turkey - a beautiful country that embraces two continents, one arm reaching out to Asia, the other to Europe. It has been home of the oldest and richest civilizations including, Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires.

The tour will start in Istanbul-Turkey’s largest metropolitan- where we will begin exploring historic neighborhoods of Istanbul including Taksim, Galata, Sultanahmet, Ortaköy and we will visit historic landmarks of Hagia Sophia, Dolmabahçe Palace, Topkapı Palace, Galata Tower and the Basilica Cistern. Apart from site visits, we will taste the rich Turkish cuisine including kebabs, baklava, mantı and more.

Next, we will fly to Cappadocia, famous for fairy chimneys, a historical region and a natural wonder formed 60 million years ago with lava and ash spewed from nearby volcanos. We will enjoy the magnificent view of the fairy chimneys from a hot air balloon at sunrise and touring Bronze Age homes carved into valley walls by cave dwellers and later used as refuges by early Christians.

Itinerary:

June 8, 2019 Arrive in İstanbul.

June 9, 2019 Walk around Karaköy, sight seeing at the Galata Tower, walk through İstiklal Street, eat traditional Turkish meals.

June 10, 2019 Breakfast by the Bosphorus, visit Ortaköy, Dolmabahçe Palace, eat traditional Turkish kebap and drink rakı at dinner, chill at a rooftop with a view of historical landmarks.

June 11, 2019 Visit historical landmarks, shop at Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar, visit Topkapı palace and Basilica Cistern, private night tour at Hagia Sophia with one of Turkey’s most known tour guides.

June 12, 2019 Breakfast by the Bosphorus, Bosphorus tour on a boat, tour of the main shopping street on the Asian side, rakı night at a historic train station.

June 13, 2019 Fly to Cappadocia, traditional pottery tour, traditional Anatolian meals, vineyard visit and wine tasting.

June 14, 2019 Hot air ballooning over fairy chimneys, Turkish bath, tour of fairy chimneys and historic caves.

June 15, 2019 Fly to Istanbul and the next destination.

Black Forest hiking. Therme: 18 different pools, 23 tubes, 12 themed saunas, pool bar.

June 4, 2019 Brewery Course. Bar hopping.

June 15, 2019 Arrive at Moscow - have dinner at White Rabbit (#15 of top 50 restaurants according to www.theworlds50best.com) and drinks at Nikuda Ne Edem

June 16, 2019 Tour Red Square, St. Basil Cathedral, Kremlin, GUM, taste Russian/Soviet cuisine at Dr. Zhivago Cafe, walk around Kitay-Gorod, Park Zaryadie, Gorky Park and visit Garage museum of Contemporary Art

June 17, 2019 Have some Russian/Ukranian/Jewish food for breakfast, visit Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Novedevichy Convent, explore some of the famous metro stations, head over to VDNKH and Museum of Cosmonautics. Relax in a traditional Russian sauna (banya) at the end of the day

June 18, 2019 Visit Tretyakov Gallery, watch world-famous Russian ballet at Bolshoi Theater and head over to St. Petersburg  aboard Grand Express overnight train

June 19, 2019 Tour the Palace Square, St. Isaac Cathedral, Church of the Savior on Blood, Peter and Paul Fortress. Visit the Hermitage (second largest art museum in the world). After dinner and spirits tasting, take midnight river cruise and watch drawing of bridges

June 20, 2019 Either depart for the next leg of the world tour trip OR spend an extra day in St. Petersburg touring the Peterhof Palace

June 21, 2019 Free day/Departures

Greece (June 15, 2019 - June 20, 2019)

June 15, 2019 Arrive to Athens, enjoy Greek cuisine and great views of the Parthenon from a rooftop bar.

June 16, 2019 Climb to the awe-inspiring Acropolis accompanied by an experienced guide, get a private tour of the new Acropolis Museum, visit the stadium of the first Olympic games, enjoy the nightlife.

June 17, 2019 Wander around Monastiraki flea market and the Anafiotika quarter, get a private tour of the Ancient Agora. Hop on a ferry to go to the island of Spetses to stay two nights in a private villa. Spend the night by the pool.

June 18, 2019 Spend the day on a small private boat to visit inaccessible beaches of Spetses, swim in the clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea, experience island nightlife.

June 19, 2019 Visit the picturesque island of Hydra for a daytrip and spend the night in Athens. Dinner with Columbia alumni (TBD)

June 20, 2019 Fly to next destination (optional: tour of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center)
